A very close view of the starboard bow of the motor tanker North Earl (1956) in No. 4 graving dock at Falmouth, Cornwall. She is undergoing damage repairs and repainting. The plating under her anchor is very badly rusted and her anchor is caked with mud. A man is on the dock head just ahead of the ship's stem. The 0-4-0ST steam locomotive No. 6 is working in the background. This engine was built by Peckett & Sons in 1919 for the CWS soap works near Irlam and was bought by the Falmouth Docks & Engineering Co in 1968. It was taken out of service in 1986.
