A starboard midship view of the hulk of the steamship Great Britain (1843), taken from ahead of the beam, during pumping operations in Sparrow Cove, Falkland Islands. Two jets of water are being discharged amidships just abaft a large split in the hull. Steel plates were bolted to the inside of the hull break and the gaps were filled with mattresses and other materials. The masts have been removed.
