A very distant starboard quarter view of the ship rigged sail training ship Dar Pomorza (1909) and the barque rigged training ship Gorch Fock (1958) under sail in the Solent off Cowes. The Gorch Fock is on the right. A Royal Navy Rothesay class Type 12 frigate is the guardship at anchor in the left background. The two square riggers were in the Solent for the Tall Ships Race to the Skaw which started on 16 August 1972. There are a large number of small yachts, dinghies and motor leisure craft in the picture.
