Boy trainees standing by a stack of boxes of apples on the port side of the after deck on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is at moorings in Portsmouth Harbour. The apples were presented to the ship by Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking aft from abreast the mizzen mast. The Lambie class B motor lifeboat is not on board and it davits are turned fore-and-aft. The Royal Corps of Transport Mark 8 tank landing craft Abbeville (1945) is at moorings in the background. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
