Three boy trainees reflaking the mizzen sail on board the 3-masted topsail schooner Sir Winston Churchill (1966) while she is at moorings in Portsmouth Harbour. They are being supervised by one of the ship's officers. In the foreground is a stack of apples in boxes that were presented to the ship by Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking aft from the port side of the deck abreast the mizzen mast. The Lambie class B motor lifeboat is not on board. The Royal Corps of Transport Mark 8 tank landing craft Abbeville (1945) is at moorings in the background. A vertical format negative. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
