The boys are eating apples that were presented to the ship by John Roundell Palmer, Lord Wolmer, representing the Apple & Pear Development Council. The photographer is looking aft and to starboard from the port side of the bridge. Names written on the reverse of a print from a similar negative are Duckworth, Morton, Gray, Mallett, Larnon. Negatives numbers PM11725/11 to PM11730/37 were taken on the same occasion.
