The photographer is on the forecastle of the Japanese battleship Shikishima (1898) looking at the port side of the Albion. Her six-inch guns have been installed but the turret for the forward twelve-inch guns is not yet in place. A track mounted crane has been erected on the boat deck amidships. The masts and bridges have been installed and both of the topmasts are in the lowered position. A note on the vertical format negative says the photographer is using Camera A.
