A slightly distant port broadside view of the forepart of the Japanese Navy battleship Shikishima (1898) on the slipway of the Thames Iron Works shipyard at Blackwall, London. Her hull is fully plated and she is ten days away from launching. Everything aft of amidships is out of the picture. The photographer is on the foreshore just outside the perimeter fence of the shipyard and two storage sheds are on the left. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera A.
