A tug towing a ketch barge and two spritsail coasting barges in Sandwich Haven, up the River Stour to Sandwich, Kent. The tug is towing the laden sailing vessels round a bend in the river and it is partially hidden behind the river bank. The two coasting barges have their bowsprits topped. The two-masted lug rigged yacht Sea Gull (1874), seen from very fine off the port bow, is in a creek on the right. A note on the negative says the photographer is using Camera B.
