A slightly distant port broadside view of the Essex oyster smack CK 253 (Fl. 1897) berthed in an Essex river location. She is berthed bow-on to the shore and is dried out and other craft, including a steam yacht, are similarly berthed. The top of her mast is out of the picture and her port rergistry is given as 253CK on her hull. A fishing net is drying, suspended from the top of her mast.
