Spritsail barges in Long Reach, River Thames.

Spritsail barges in Long Reach, River Thames. The photographer is looking west from on board a vessel heading downriver and a spritsail barge in the centre of the picture has a deck cargo of sawn timber. She is under sail on the starboard tack with her bowsprit topped and she has a staysail, mainsail, topsail and mizzen sail set. Other spritsail barges are under sail and a single funnel, two masted cargo steamer is alongside a wharf on the Purfleet side of the river.
