Shop fronts in the Motomachi shopping area in Kobe, Japan. The left hand shop front has tables piled with clothing outside. A Japanese flag is hanging from a pillar in between the left and right hand shop fronts. The right hand shop front consists of a traditionally designed wooden Japanese house front with a manequin wearing a kimono in the window. Obis and other items of traditional Japanese dress are also on display in the shop windows. A sign with the word "Renown" printed on it is hanging from the roof supports. This is Slide 42 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Senior Second Officer and Navigator on board the tanker Malwa (1961), owned by the P&O Group, from 14 November 1963 to 9 March 1964. The lecture consists of 75 slides.
