A starboard side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) berthed at Wilmington, Los Angeles. The photographer is looking across the quay showing ten empty road trailers parked on the quayside abreast the ship. The word 'Stack' is painted on the mudguard of the trailer on the right hand side of the image. The word 'Interpool' is painted on the mudguards of the trailer second from the right on the image. The words 'Red Van' are printed on the mud guards of the third and fourth trailers from the right of the image. A number of the containers stacked on the ship have the Seatrain symbol printed on the side. A white Chevron oil tanker is alongside the accommodation ladder on the left hand side of the image. Dockyard cranes are in the background on the left hand side of the image. This is Slide 6 of a lecture given by Captain Henry P. Bird detailing his service as Relief Second Officer on board the container ship Seatrain Valley Forge (1978) owned by Marejet Bereiderung GMBH & Co. from 23 November 1979 to 7 February 1980.
