Pocket compass
Pocket compass in round brass box 'B' scratched on base. Belonged to George Browne (1784-1856). Signal Lieutenant in 'Victory' at Trafalgar. Retiring with the rank of Commander in 1840. Unable to find naval employment after the war, he studied law and was called to the bar in 1821. He ultimately became a bank manager.
