A port quarter view of the bulk carrier Wilkawa [ex Australian City] (1964) riding light to load a cargo of minced metal alongside a quay at Norfolk, Virginia. The photographer is standing on a quayside aft of the ship looking towards its port quarter. A black car is parked on the quayside. Three mooring ropes are fastened to bollards from the ship to the quayside. The words 'Wilkawa' and its port of registry 'Bideford' are painting on the port quarter. A unidentified bulk carrier is berthed at a quayside in the backside on the right hand side of the image. The letters 'OCA' are painted on the side of the ship, but the rest of the letters are obscured. This is Slide 7 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Second Officer on board the motor bulk carrier Wilkawa [ex Australian City] (1964) owned by Sir William Reardon Smith & Sons Ltd of Cardiff, from 17 May 1970 to 26 November 1970. This series consists of 83 slides.
