A view of the waterfront at Gouvernementsplein in Willemstad, Curacao. The photographer is standing on the quayside looking east. There are numerous park cars in the fore ground and middle ground. A man and woman are walking along the waterfront on the left hand side of the image whilst a man is sitting on the waterfront wall. 3 unidentified small rover craft are moored along the waterfront. The name of a shop front on a building opposite is partially obscured by a tree. Shops extend from the middle ground into the background the eastern edge of the Queen Juliana Bridge is in the background. This is Slide 42 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer on board the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by the Commercial Cable Company of London from 22 January 1973 to 26 April 1973. The series consists of 62 slides.
