A view of the Schooner Market in Willemstad, Curacao, taken from the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922). The photographer is standing on the ship looking eastwards. There is a fishing vessel berthed on the left hand side of the water front with the words 'Santa Maria II La Guira' painted in white on the stern The left and right side of the waterfront is full of docked schooners selling their wares. Cranes, the Old market and Queen Wilhemina Bridge are in the background. This is Slide 44 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Watchkeeping Officer on board the cable ship John W. Mackay (1922) owned by the Commercial Cable Company of London from 22 January 1973 to 26 April 1973. The series consists of 62 slides.
