A second conveyor belt is expelling sand into the sea off the port side. A crewman is standing on the port side just aft of the hold. The superstructure and wheelhouse are in the background. This is Slide 7 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as supernumerary Second Officer on board the sand suction dredger Sand Swan (1970) and eventually Chief Officer on the sand suction dredger Sand Skua (1971) owned by the South Coast Shipping Co. Ltd. from 6 May 1973 to 27 June 1973.
