A view looking forward of the Bruges Canal on board the sand suction dredger Sand Swan (1971). The photographer is standing on the starboard side of the bridge looking forward and slightly to port. Houses, two buses and piles of timber are on the left side of the canal bank. Two houses and a copse of trees are on the right side of the canal bank. There is an open swing-bridge in the canal in the middle ground. This is Slide 15 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as supernumerary Second Officer on board the sand suction dredger Sand Swan (1970) and eventually Chief Officer on the sand suction dredger Sand Skua (1971) owned by the South Coast Shipping Co. Ltd. from 6 May 1973 to 27 June 1973.
