Steel, black-lacquered tray with four levelling screws, and brass-framed roof-shaped cover. Two sides of the cover have clear glass panels, at an angle of 90 degrees. Signed on the side of the cover 'Cox, Devonport & Plymouth', and marked H O [broad arrow] 21. Spirit level, wooden jar for containing the mercury when not in use,
