A close up view of a Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bo 105C helicopter on the helipad of the oil drilling ship Glomar Grand Banks (1972), south of Cape Scaramia, Sicily, Italy. According to the photographer's autobiography, the vessel was stationed 3 miles south of Cape Scaramia in Sicily. The helicopter's rotor are still spinning and the pilot is still seated in the cockpit. A man is walking towards the open door of the helicopter. A partial view of a man with a red and black check shirt is on the right side of the image. A welcome notice sign is on the port side of the helipad. The ship's funnel and drilling rig are forward of the helipad. This is Slide 12 of a series of slides detailing Captain H. Bird's service as Navigator for the delivery voyage of the oil drill ship Glomar Grand Banks (1972) owned by Glomar Marine Inc from 11 March 1980 to 17 March 1980. This series consists of 23 slides.
