The Sheer Bastion, Senglea, Malta
Looking south-west from the Boat Sheds on the Vittoriosa shore of Dockyard Creek, Malta to the Sheer Bastion, also known as Il Macina, Senglea at 08.50. The iron sheerlegs replaced wooden ones in 1864 and were dismantled in 1927. The paddle tug Sampson (1877) seen from ahead of her starboard beam, is in the centre of the picture and the paddle tug Restless (1902), seen from very fine off her starboard bow, is on the left.
