A small gaff rigged naval gig under sail in Dockyard Creek, Malta

A port bow view, taken from wide off the bow, of a small naval gig under sail in Dockyard Creek, Malta. She is about 16 feet long, carvel-built with a transom stern and has a single-masted gaff rig with foresail. A naval crest is on the bow of the boat. The boat is on the starboard tack and the two occupants are in sailor suits and are said to be named Andrea and Johnny. The photograph was taken at 14.30 in bright conditions. The church of San Lorenzo, Vittoriosa, is in the left background and the Fleet Boat Shed is on the right. Vertical format.
