Fort St Angelo and Dockyard Creek, Vittoriosa, Malta.
Looking across Grand Harbour from St Lazarus Bastion, Valletta, to Fort St Angelo, Vittoriosa, and Dockyard Creek. In the foreground, moored stern on to the shore and seen from above mast height fine off the port quarter, is the Austro-Hungarian cargo ship Kossuth Ferencz (1907). On the left a 2 funnelled British cruiser of the Edgar class is moored in Kalkara Creek. In Dockyard Creek on the right is the cruiser Barham (1889) with awnings rigged. Berry's notebook says the photograph was taken at 18.00 on 7 August but the Kossuth Ferencz arrived from Sulina on 3 August and sailed the same day for Rotterdam, confirmed by Lloyd's Voyage Records.
