On the right is Fort Ricasoli and the south (Ricasoli) breakwater. These breakwaters protect and enclose Grand Harbour. A 16 feet gig, with awning rigged, is being rowed offshore by either Andrea or Johnny. The time is given in Berry's notebook as 14.45.
