The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, London in 1891
The Royal Naval Exhibition at the Royal Hospital, Chelsea, ran from 2 May to 24 October 1891. This is the mock battle that took place on the specially constructed lake between the Royal Hospital main building and the Embankment. The model turret ship on the left is named Edinburgh and the barbette ship beyond is named Majestic. The magazine of the Majestic is said to be exploding. The buildings in the background are the Trafalgar Panorama, the P & O Steamship pavilion and The George refreshment pavilion. A copy negative produced by the NMM Studio of a mounted photographic print contained in Photograph Album No. ALB1386.
