A protest flag stating No OceanDiva
A protest flag stating 'No OceanDiva', made in 2022. The 'O' contains a graphic of the 'OceanDiva' underneath Tower Bridge in London.
OceanDiva was a party vessel proposed for operation on the River Thames from 2017. Following years of back and forth between the owners, local residents, councils, and other organisations, the vessel left London in 2024 after it's unsuccessful bid to become the largest passenger vessel on the Thames.
The 'No OceanDiva' campaign was spearheaded by residents along the Thames and their concern for a lack of consideration of the impact of such a vessel, including lack of public transport in the proposed embarking/ disembarking areas.
The flags graphic design purposefully copies that of the 'No Grandi Navi' campaign synonymous with challenges around mass tourism and cruise ships in the Venice lagoon (ZBB0241).
