On board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, looking aft from the port side of the quarterdeck close to the shield of No. 4 gun, which is a Vickers 4-inch Mk. V. The gun is trained ahead of the port beam and a wire lifting strop is wrapped around the gun barrel, which is protected with sacking. In the background is the port Type R2 paravane davit.
