Gun lifting arrangements on board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth, Hampshire
On board a V & W class destroyer in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, looking aft and to port from the starboard side of the quarterdeck just forward of the breech end of No. 4 gun, which is a Vickers 4-inch Mk. V. The gun is trained ahead of the port beam. A wire lifting strop is attached to the breech end of the gun, which is protected with sacking, and a chain is shackled to the bottom of the breech. On the starboard side of the quarterdeck on the left is a Type R2 paravane davit.
