The destroyer Nubian (1937) fitted for rolling trials in Portsmouth Dockyard. Hampshire

A starboard broadside view of the destroyer Nubian (1937) fitted out for rolling trials in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard. Her starboard boats have been removed and large timber platforms have been erected amidships. A number of men are on the port side of the platforms and a large part of her boot topping is visible. Her bow and stern are just out of the picture and her pendant number is L36. Beyond her bow can be seen the bow of the battleship Queen Elizabeth (1913) and the funnels of the battlecruiser Renown (1916), both undergoing reconstruction. The horizon is not quite level.
