The escort destroyer Westminster (1918) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A port bow view of the hull of the escort destroyer Westminster (1918) in dry dock in Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the side of the dock abreast the bow, looking aft. Her hull below the waterline is badly damaged as a result of striking a wreck at Dunkirk on 20 May 1940. The temporary patching has been removed and men are using pneumatic drills to remove rivets from the damaged plating. Her pendant number is L40. Her bow, stern and upperworks are out of the picture.
