The destroyer Cameron (1919) in No. 8 Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A close view of the port side of the lower hull from amidships aft, taken from the side of the dock, of the destroyer Cameron (1919) in No. 8 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard. The large hole blown in the hull just above the keel by the bomb that exploded between the ship and the dock wall is plainly visible, as are the numerous shrapnel holes. Some square holes have been cut in the plating and the propeller shaft has been removed. Two levels of timber staging have been erected. The Cameron was damaged during an air raid on 5 Dec. 1940, was bodily moved off the keel blocks and caught fire.
