Sheet piling being undertaken to reinforce the walls of Vernon Creek, Portsmouth as seen from Old Gunwharf looking west-north-west towards the Portsmouth Harbour Railway Station Pier. A new 27 feet long pile has been lowered into position and an hydraulic piler has been connected to the top of it to hammer it into the mud. The Southern Railway coaling hulk is in the background.
