The construction of two G78 LILO units in Admiralty Floating Dock 11 (1924) in Fountain Lake, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.
Two G78 LILO units under construction on the floor of Admiralty Floating Dock 11 (1924) which is moored in Fountain Lake, Portsmouth Dockyard. The 200 feet long hollow concrete tube in the middle of the dock is almost complete and the formers have been removed. Men are smoothing off the surface of the tube. A large box former has been erected at the west end of the dock, into which the concrete will be poured to make the next tube. there are two concrete batching plant and two rail mounted cranes on the floor of the dock. The photographer is looking north-west across the dock from near the east end of the south side wall. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P164/43 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
