The Main Gate, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
A close view of the widened Main Gate of Portsmouth Dockyard, taken looking north-by-east from the west side of The Hard. The main wooden gates are open and the pedestrian gate is closed. Two police officers are on duty outside the gate. A sign on the west gate pillar reads "All vehicles arriving at Dockyard Gates are to stop outside and wait until admitted by police". Admiralty Road is leading off to the right. The lamp posts appear to be leaning backwards.
