Testing paints on the destroyer Porcupine (1941) in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.

A very close port broadside view of the side plating under the bridge of the destroyer Porcupine (1941) alongside the jetty on No. 3 Basin between Nos 13 and 14 Dry Docks in Portsmouth Dockyard. Various parts of the structure have been painted in different formulae of paint. A locker labelled Washdeck Locker No. 4 is on the forecastle deck. The photographer is standing on the stern section of the ship which is berthed alongside the forward section. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P218/43 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
