Shipwrights fitting a large steel construction in the tank deck of a Mark 5 tank landing craft in No. 2 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from a hopper barge off her port side abreast her bridge looking forward and to starboard. Small square plates on board look like armour plates. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P29/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative and the description given in this register is "fitting of heavy ramps for tanks". The ship may be LCT (5) 2240.
