The stern frame for the light cruiser Hawke about to be lifted from the ground alongside No. 5 Slip in Portsmouth Dockyard. Two wires are shackled to the stern frame and the lifting operation is being watched by seven men on the ground. The Portsmouth Dockyard negative register number P96/44 has been written in the bottom left corner of the negative.
