The damaged LCT 854 (1943) in the Tidal Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.
On board the tank landing craft LCT 854 (1943) which is berthed alongside North Corner Jetty in the Tidal Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, looking aft from the starboard side of the deck abreast the forward end of the tank deck. The bulwark to her tank deck is buckled following damage received when hit by a German shell while beached at Ouistreham on 6 Jun. 1944. The shell destroyed an estimated six tons of mortar shells that were in Bren carriers. The ship was able to raise her ramp and sail back to Portsmouth under her own power. She has E41 painted on her bulwark.
