The damaged minesweeper Salamander (1936) in Portsmouth Harbour, Hampshire
A stern view of the badly damaged minesweeper Salamander (1936) taken from very fine off the starboard quarter. She is laid up at moorings in the entrance to Fareham Creek in Portsmouth Harbour. Her stern was destroyed by rocket fire from Royal Air Force Typhoon aircraft off Cap d'Antifer on 27 Aug. 1944. Alongside her is the Canadian corvette Port Arthur (1941), pendant number K233, seen from very fine off her port quarter. On the left is Priddy's Hard armament depot and pier.
