The 250 ton hammerhead crane lifting the U.S. tank landing craft LCT 520 (1943) in No. 3 Basin, Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire.
A stern view, taken from fine off the port quarter, of the U.S. tank landing craft LCT 520 (1943) being lowered onto a vessel by the 250 ton hammerhead cantilever crane situated on the Promontory in No. 3 Basin of Portsmouth Dockyard. This clearly shows the expanse of the craft's flat bottom, her triple screws and rudders protected by four steel frames, and her large kedge anchor. A notice painted on one of the brick encased legs of the crane says "Date of last test 9.8.39". Vertical format.
