Looking north-by-west from just inside the Dockyard Main Gate, Portsmouth, showing the area known as the 'quarterdeck' at the junction of Main Road with College Road with No. 5 Boathouse and No. 51 Store forming the backdrop. The figurehead of the 3rd Rate Benbow (1813) is in front of the flagstaff with the belfry to the left. On the wall of No. 5 Boathouse are a crown and the Prince of Wales feathers. The masts of the Victory (1765) are in the background. Vertical format.
