A very close detail of part of a large steel collar fitted around the forward end of the hull of the submarine Supreme (1944) in No. 4 Dry Dock, Portsmouth Dockyard, taken from the port side looking aft and to starboard. The Supreme and her sister Stoic (1943) were to be used in experiments to determine safe diving depths for welded and riveted boats of the S Class. Vertical format.
