Inside the experimental atomic and biological research ship Ben Lomond (1945) in Portsmouth Dockyard, Hampshire
Inside the former tank deck of the experimental atomic and biological research ship Ben Lomond (1945) during her refit in Portsmouth Dockyard. Two large rectangular units, numbered 1 and 2, are on the right. The removable end panel on each unit is held in place by 28 handwheels, each handwheel being numbered to correspond with the order in which they are to be released. A rubber boat is on the left and it is carrying a large rectangular box that appears to have three box lights on a hinged bracket projecting from each side and another box light on the top of it. An oil drum containing bitumastic waterproofing comnpound is in the foreground. The deckhead is fitted with hoist rails. See also negatives numbers N26994 and N26995.
