Two Chinese women sat at wooden looms

A black and white landscapet photograph showing two Chinese women sat at wooden looms. The looks are set at an angle, each woman with her back to the other and half turned to the camera. Both wear Chinese robes and earrings, with their hair tied in buns. Threads can be seen on the looms, which have treadles. The scence appears to take place inside a windowless room with a brick wall (although this may be a photographer's studio). The silhouette of the woman on the left of the image is visible. Bamboo equipment, possibly baskets, sits beside and between them. Original caption (handwritten beneath the photograph): ‘Silk Weaving – S. China.
