Egyptian people, including a blind man, begging
A black and white landscape photograph showing four Egyptian people, including a blind man asking for money. The blind man is closest to the camera, on the left of the imags. His right hand is raised, palm upward in the act of asking for alms. His left hand is resting on the front of f a robe-like garment that covers his body and arms. He is also wearing a white or light-coloured cap. His back is to wall made of stone blocks that fills the left side of the image. Two other figures stand further away, in the angle of the stone wall and one of two stone gateposts, shorter than the wall on the left of the image. These people may also be blind and asking for money. One figure, possibly a child, stands turned towards the camera, and is wrapped in an assortment of clothes that cover most of their body, including a headscarf or hood over their head. Next to this figure is an older man, also turned towards the camera,f facing down. He also wears a robe-like carment and a cap. A metal door can be seen between the gateposts. One side is closed; the bottom half is made of a solid plate and the top features vertical metal bars. The other side of the door is open and a woman wearing a headscape is standing in the gap, facing the camera. Another stone wall can be seen behind her, with the roof and upper windows of a stone building visible behind this wall. Original caption (handwritten in white beneath) [offensive]: 'Blind Beggars - always a pitiful and often re-volting sight.'
