Curio dealers in Zanzibar
A black and white landscape photograph of three men and a boy standing behind a stall of souvenirs. The photograph shows the stall in profile, with one end close to the camera. Two model elephants, probably wooden, can be seen in the foreground. Other objects (indistinguishable) are laid out behind the elephants. A smaller case or chest is at the far end of the stall, with more objects on top. A box of Hunltey & Palmers biscuits (with the company name and 'SUPPERIOR READING BISCU[obscured]' on the side is also visible. The men and the boy sit or stand at the far end of the stall, facing the camera. One man is wresting his arm on the corner of the table or case that forms the stall. All are wearing jackets with lapels and cylindrical, fez-like hats. The scence probably takes place on the deck of a ship, with what is probably its superstructure and cowling behind. Original caption (handwritten in white beneath): 'CURIO-DEALERS - ZANZIBAR'.
