Mounted with PAG8280.; No.13. The European terminus of the 1865 Atlantic cable was on top of the remote cliffs of Foilhummerum Bay, on the island of Valentia in the west of Ireland, where it was connected to the existing land line. In this image, cowds of onlookers watch the 'Great Eastern' depart.
