The King George disabled & the other Privateers in Chase, with the Appearance of His Majesty's Ship the Russell at the time the Dartmouth was blown up, engaging the Gloriosa Octr 9th 1748 [1747]
A hand-coloured engraving of several ships giving chase. The ‘King George’ is shown starboard broadside in the foreground, left of centre. Two three-masted ships with the British Ensign flank either side of her. In the distance, several other ships are visible; notably, two ships on the far right are engaged in a skirmish, potentially showing the Spanish ‘Gloriosa’ and British ‘Dartmouth’. The inscription gives the wrong date, which should be 6 October 1747.
