The building of the 'Great Eastern'
Signed by artist and dated, 1857. The ship seen from astern, being built parallel to the Thames on the Millwall foreshore (1854-58). The Thames is on the right and the church spire shown that of St Mary's, Rotherhithe, on the south side of the river.
